Yesterday I had a picture of a library, so it is only fitting that the topic for day threee would be "a favorite book". Too bad I can't say I planned that. Anyway, my book is The Giant Golden Book of Elves and Fairies with assorted Pixies, Mermaids, Brownies, Witches, and Leprechauns, written by Jane Werner Watson and illustrated by Garth Williams. Here's a picture from the inside, because the cover is kind of big.
( I never really owned this book, but not for lack of trying. )

First off, a semi nerdy meme. But it's the kind where you learn something in the end, so I like it! It beats the same old '"what color is our cell phone?" ( I don't have one!) or "What is your favorite food?" (chicken.) thing. And it has the added bonus of being both topical and something that is making fun of someone stupid. It's the rare Win/Win/Win!
Meme 1: As was demonstrated in an interview with Katie Couric, Sarah Palin is unable to name any Supreme Court Case other than Roe v. Wade.
The Rules: Post info about ONE Supreme Court decision, modern or historic, to your lj. (Any decision, as long as it's not Roe v. Wade.) For those who see this on your f-list, take the meme to your OWN lj to spread the fun.
( What have I learned? I can't spell s-e-p-a-r-a-t-e )
Well, that was long! (But educational! You have to give me that!) Now, on to something a bit less "college research paper" and more 'wasting time on LJ! "A fewweeks months (I really did think it was three or so weeks ago. It was July!) back bean did a meme where you take a picture of what's in your bag and then talk about it. I wanted to do it then, but I had no (locatable) camera. Now I have one, and I am not finished with my recap yet, so here's a look inside my bag. (This is kind of timely, as this week they have instituted a Random Bag Search policy at work. I don't really care about that one, as they all know what's in my bag anyway. Now, the "We tell you when to go to lunch" and the "Everyone stays in the building until 30 minutes after we're closed, no matter if you're finished or not" policies? Those suuuuck!)
1. Take a picture of your bag
2. Now dump everything out and neatly adjust them, and take a picture (no matter how embarrassing)
3. Talk about the items inside.
( Bean has 12 items.. that's a lot! Will i have more? Or less? Probably more. )
Today (hopefully before work!) "One Of Us, One Of Them" (maybe) and something else. But, if I don't get that stuff up before the show, I want to go on record as saying that I am pretty excited about something that's gonna happen tonight! I really hope they don't mess this one up!

I keep seeing posts about music and books. And you know that if I love anything it's (talking on and on and on about) music and books.. so here I am. Hey, at least it's not another meme! Of course it took me so long to do this I'm talking hours!), I did not get around to commenting on everyone else's posts about music and books. This just gives me something to do tonight after work when there are a dozen other things i need to be doing. Planned procrastination? That takes skills!

And now, sleep!
- Music:all kinds of stuff. This took forever!
I think I hear someone at the door, so I do not have time for witty intro text. I thought I had more time. I wrote all of this expecting a 9:40 arrival, and go a 9:16 one! Eh, whatever. Even when I came home and edited more stuff in, I did not add much up here. Just the part about how I did not add anything. Anyway, here goes... just a cut and all kinds of random stuff.
( this is the cut. )
(Hours Later) Sidenote on Why I Am Kind Of Angry At The Used Book/CD/DVD Store: When I begrudgingly spend my hard-earned dollars on a crappy movie based on a crappy TV show I Will never watch, I would like not to be charged twice for it! Now I have to go in today and try to convince them that I am not lying when I say "I only bought one copy of this movie that you have listed on my receipt as simply DVD $14. Just great!

Taken from , because I am supposed to be working and I needed something to make sure that that was not happening.
1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've only read 6 and force books upon them.
Bonus! Step 5) Strike out the books that anger you. (Thanks, bean!)

Up next, the answers to that "my favorite song by ___ is" meme. Exciting!

Remember that book list I made a few weeks back? Well, it seems it is time to get started on it. I thought that with the staggered release dates and the difference in my position on various hold lists, that I would be able to read them one at a time, in a steady trickle. It seems this was not what the gods of the Library had in mind. Instead I get two in one day, and then three days later I get four more. All of these books, save one, are new books, meaning they are 14-day books. This means two things - I have two, instead of three weeks to finish. And every day that a book is late is 50 cents. I will not say which of these is the more pressing concern.
And because I know you don't really care, here is a post on my progress. This time with links to a place where people who are better reviewers that I talk about what makes them goo/bad/whatever. And now, on to the books!

I don't even know why I am posting this, but I was going through the library's site for the latest round of "There is a lot of good stuff coming out now, so I am going to put a lot of things on hold so that I can start reading again!' and figured why not post about it? Why? Because I am bored and there are like six other things I could/should be working on. And if that is not a good enough reason to make a pointless post about what I will eventually be reading, I don't know what is!

So yesterday, while trying to watch the Emmys (I will watch anything if there is a betting pool involved. Hence my weekly up-$4/down-$4 NASCAR adventure. Yes, I know they are just going around in circles, but I have money on it!) a friend came to see if I wanted to accompany her to the library. She is in grad school and every few months or so we have to truck over to the library (never in the daytime, always under cover of night to pick up no less than 30 books on some subject or another. Since I am no longer a student, I can't check out books, but I always find something I want. (She hates going to the library. I love it!) So, in exchange for my leaving the house and lugging half of her haul around, I always manage to sneak in a few "Check these out for me" books. I usually go for the Classic-themed books (as they are near the floors she, as a history major, spends time on) but not this time.
