Yesterday I was going through labeling songs and stuff in preparation for consolidating my iTunes library -- where it arranges all of the random music I have haphazardly saved in two way-too-large and very unorganized folders into one neatly arranged folder with subfolders for each artist and album -- and got sidetracked. Shocking!
( See the cut. Click the cut. )
- Music:Modest Mouse: Exit Does Not Exist
I don't really have any witty pre-cut commentary, so, as always... thumbnail - cut- big picture.
- Music:George Harrison: When We Was Fab
and the stuff in that post came from someone else's post too. So, in a way, maybe it does share a few qualities with a meme. Anyway, I don't really have anything to say that does not technically belong after the cut, so here's a thumbnail.
( be glad I did not go with my first idea. )
ETA: How come no one told me my title made what some would call "Absolutely No Sense". Really now, you gotta let people know when things like that happen.

This is really old. I mean like "I drew this in March" old. But I told cookie I'd post it, so here it is. Then again, I also told her I would get started on that canvas thing.. do not ask how that went. Maybe tonight?! (I actually had a funny-to-me Idea for something a few days ago, but I could not figure out how to work it out. I don't know.. I may revisit it though. You know, because I hate to let a good idea go to waste. Keeping with the "two months late" theme, you should expect it around 7/5 or so.)
- Music:The Beatles: Rocky Raccoon
In some circles it's a holiday (not here, I only do the one with candy, the one with turkey and the one with the tree that probably should have been taken down about two months ago, but is still standing in the living room as I type), and that gave me an idea. A good idea? Maybe. Probably not. But it made me laugh, so I went with it. Perhaps I should not have said that. That's okay, you know you want to look anyway.
- Music:TV: Survivor
You know what? Last week when I engaged in the Epic Two-Day Struggle To Put Up The Christmas Lights, I found the Christmas tree. This may not sound like a big event, but "searching for the Christmas tree" is an annual event around these parts. It is the same tree we have had for ~*ages*~, it gets relentlessly mocked by my sister, but I stand by it. (Because I have known it longer than I have known her. It has Seniority!) Some years it's in he attic. Some years it's in the basement. It have been shoved in the hall closet, the kitchen closet and her (now my) bedroom closet. One year it stayed up until November. Then I took it down, only to put it back up a week later. (Because "putting up the Christmas tree" is something that must happen every year. There is no "well, it's already up, so let's just leave it there. That is "crazy talk".) One year, we bought a real tree. Did it replace the old tree? Of course not, we just had two trees!
Anyway, as I was saying, a few days ago, I found the tree. And the living room is still full of boxes, so there is no room for the tree (plus, I am not sure of the whole tree is in the box. I should look into that.) so I left it outside in a box.... in the yard. It has been raining all day, and, according to weather.com it's 34 degrees out. I am pretty sure my poor tree is covered in ice. This means that now, I have to go outside, drag the tree (and the cardboard box) inside, shake it out and put it in the bathtub. I predict at least one Level One Disastrophe will be involved. Plus, I want to watch TV. Do you know where my extension cord is? (Hint: I bet it's cold) I am pretty sure it's officially Out of Commission. Oh well, to the yard! It's times like this when I wish I actually owned a coat!
Oh yeah, here is a completely random holiday image.

I don't know... I have not drawn anything in a while and I feel slack. (Okay, slacker than usual). And I have to get back in the habit of drawing for something else I need to be working on instead of this, but doing the thing I am not supposed to be doing while there are other things out there that need doing....that's how I roll. (Also there is that pesky matter of the actual work assignment I also need to be working on. I am a procrastinating multitasker! Or a multitasking procrastinator? One of the two!)
I started these two way back a long time ago.. meaning, maybe two weeks or so. (Back when I was like "Mohinder's retired.") But, I only drew the first one this week. And then I was like "I can't post it without the second one. But, I lost the original paper sketch back when I first drew it, so I had to start over from scratch. That was a hassle. And you know how I feel about "hassle". Either way, here they are.

This is usually the time in which I would be trying furiously trying to get a coherent, and not ten-page long, recap up so that I can run off and read everyone else's before the West coasters get back from watching Heroes. Instead, this is the time in which I finished up all of the pictures I had been working on. Every time I slack off and allow the cable to get cut off, I end up getting way more done that I did when it was on. The last time this happened was in 2005. That was the year I read like 80 books. I liken it to that episode of Seinfeld ("The Abstinence")where George can't sleep with his girlfriend, and because he is forced to actually think of things that aren't related to sleeping with his girlfriend he can focus on other things.. you know, like learning Portuguese, perfecting the Yankees' batting technique, complex mathematics and all kinds of other "smart" things. This is the analogy I used back then, and it is the one I will use again now.

This is like the first time ever I have completed an Illustration Friday drawing on what is, to me, Friday. I mean, I know that technically it is Saturday, but I have not gone to bed yet, so I call it Friday! This week's word is Hats. At first I was gonna go with the classic super-touristy "I [Heart] NY" hats, but somewhere along the way, those fell by the wayside, and instead I went with...

- Music:none.. and that's just sad...
So here are the other two Halloween pictures. I would have posted them earlier but I was one of those people out in the store at 5pm on October 31st buying candy for Trick Or Treaters. I used to refer to these people as "idiots! Didn't they know it was coming?! It's the same day every year!!" yet.. there I was... for the second year in a row.. out trying to walk the fins line between "not paying too much for candy" and "getting a lot of the really good stuff." I refuse to buy a bunch of cheap candy, because I know that when it comes down to it, it's all about "When all is said and done, and no kids have shown up, what will be actually be willing to eat?" And even though that bag of Snickers, Milky Ways and 3 Muskateers was like the Most Perfect Bag Of Halloween Candy Ever Created, it costs 6 bucks and only had 52 pieces. This would not have been much of an issue, but the one of Sweet Tarts, Sprees and Sweet Tart Chews has 275. I cannot argue with the numbers!

So, I come bearing a picture I drew months ago! I mean, mooonths ago. But it was not relevant until now, so now is when it is getting posted. It was before everything had a story, so it was meant to be a one-shot deal. But, as I was thinking about it the other day, I thought "Man, there were a lot of ways that could be funnier." And I wrote down a few ideas that I thought may be amusing. So, I am posting them too. Well, not all of them, because there are five altogether, and I have another unrelated image, and decided to just break them into two posts of three. Is this not the most interesting pre-cut information ever? No? Okay then. Onto the cut!

I don't even know why I let you people encourage me! I was supposed to be doing real work, yet I spend the majority of the day doing this..I guess work is for tomorrow. Of course my actual work is due Tuesday.. so that means I have over 40 good procrastination hours to fill! I predict a Monday afternoon starting time. How did I fill today's prime working hours? Well, my working on the things behind the cut. I can take not credit for this one - this idea was not mine at all. Nope, the blame for this one must be laid squarely at the feet of forsquilis. It's amazing what those fanfic not-writers can come up with on the spur of the moment! How do they do it?!

So maybe yesterday some people had some questions about certain things. This may or may not have been either distressing or amusing. Then, in a completely unrelated conversation, another both distressing, yet amusing scenario came up. So, since that was two distressing/amusing occurrence in one day... I figured that must be a sign. Also, I am bored... and putting off what I really want to do, which is break out the pencils and draw something in the bog book. But this is faster, so it always seems to win. Maybe I'll try the book thing again tomorrow.
- Music:The hum of the conputer and the tick of the clock.
I don't know.. I just got the urge to draw something again. And, instead of finishing the same one I have been working on for like two weeks, I made something new. And then, working out a new character to draw something completely different, I ended up messing around with something to complete an old set. Now I am mad because I set out specifically to finish that old one.. yet it is still there, languishing 3/4 done. Maybe next time?
( No Warkman, no Maylar, no Matthinder.. nope, not at all. )

( No Warkman, no Maylar, no Matthinder.. nope, not at all. )
I was working on making new non-drunk Nathan, complete with excellent new hair and lack of Pasbeard (R.I.P) for something involving a character I hate, but a name I love. Then I started playing around with a background from Angela's place (because I've always liked it's crazy bright colors) but could not figure out any funny scenario to go along with that. Figuring that since I had one figure and a background, I may as well go all the way with it, I was like "Well, I do need to finish that other set," but I had no idea of what to do with them. And then, suddenly, while listening to a real-life friend and his "Women! Raaage!" rant, it hit me. (In the original idea there was a Caitlyn balloon as well. Notice that there is not now.) I really wanted them both to be holding copies of that wedding photo, but I was too lazy to put the effort in for all of that. Oh well... maybe next time.

- Music:Massive Attack: Live With Me
Sadly, this entry includes no Maylar. I mean, I know it is impending canon, so there will be more! The sad part is that I was working on a Mylar remnant this afternoon.. because even though I now belong to the Church of Maylar, I can't give up on something that was so closed to finished. Maybe I will post it tomorrow. Or maybe I will wait for Maylar Monday and post it then!
Anyway, to help ease the pain of yesterday's Maylar, I bring you something a bit more palatable. The first one is not finished... but it was what I was working on when inspiration struck. I posted part of it yesterday, so consider it a cataloging of my progress.
( This Cut brought to you by the letter C... for Clocks and Cakes! )

This one is for Cookie, who loves the Mylar... Mole, who feared for the balloons... and 'Squilis, who not only warned me that turning my back on the Mylar would lead to utter ruin, but provided the title to this entry. (Oh yes.. and for Tuesday.. who laughed the laugh of the Truly Evil! I knew that if anyone would understand, you would!) Don't worry guys.. I've got it all under control! Yes, it's a slippery slope.. but I think I will make it out alive!*This? Totally a joke. Be advised that I do not, in any way, shape or form endorse Matthinder. I mean, it's got Matt right there in the name. That is an automatic DQ.
- Music:Fans... just fans...
I don't really have anything interesting to say - no funny stories to recount, no crazy things to complain about. Man, what a waste! But I finished this and I will actually be leaving the house today, so I figured I'd put it up before I left, so that way, I could at least have proof that I accomplished something before the day was done.

- Music:The Animals: House Of The Rising Sun
This post took like an hour and a half! Why is it that every time I go from Rich txt to HTML LJ insists of moving my cuts? Once or twice, okay. But every time?! Really, LJ? That's how you want to do things? Also, the stupid excess alt tag at the end of all of my images? No matter how many times to insert it, I will delete it. So just give it up already! </last-minute ranting>
Anyway, I had not posted in a while, so I decided to finish up an old drawing I spent way to much time messing around with last week. It's for last week's Illustration Friday prompt (The Blues). Then Beanster (AKA
barkinmad ) wanted me to draw a Petrelli image in the same vein as the Mylar balloons I drew way back when, so I decided to go ahead and finish that one too. Plus, I can not resist a link, and all of the crazy links popping up in the Meet Market were the kind of links that once you click them you can't un-click them. So, I killed two (three? four?) birds with one stone.. and here I am.

Well, after weeks and weeks of drawing the serious Big Boom pictures, I had the urge to draw something simple again. It hadn't done anything cartoony in months (I hadn't even opened Illustrator, because once I get into it, everything's all kiddie-styled again,) and I missed that. So, I went over to Illustration Friday to see what this week's topic was. It was Juggle. They list a new topic every week and you draw something, anything, to go with it. Then you post it and link it on the IF site and all that. I say every week I will check the topic, draw the topic and post it, but I rarely do. (Seriously... the last one I did was Rejection, and that was in June.)
I tried to think of an interesting way to do it, and to make it so I could post it here instead of the old place, but really, how many ways can you illustrate "juggle"? In fact, the first one I ever did was Tea, and I drew a jester juggling tea cups. I almost drew Gabriel juggling snowglobes, but a few minutes into sketching it, I had a better idea. And here it is...

I remain pretty certain that I am not a shipper, but I get much amusement from the fact that the most common (at least in the corners of the internet where I roam) shipper name for Mohinder & Sylar is "Mylar". Because whenever I read it I think "Oooh, balloons!" Which is weird as I don't even like balloons! (They freak me out because I am always afraid they will pop loudly, therefore scaring me into a minor heart attack.)
Anyway, I am taking a break from drawing At this point is is pretty safe to say accumulated slack time is way outpacing accumulated work time. This will not happen again tomorrow (or, later today, to be more accurate). But I figured that while I was wasting time roaming through and cleaning up my photobucket account, I might as well post these old drawings I did a while back but never posted anywhere, aside from a random link on the TWoP board.
