busy, work in progress, working, getting on the ball... or not
So, I never finish anything. It's just what I do. It's not even procrastinating. I am a great starter, it's finishing that is an issue. Exhibit A: my sketchbook. I carry it with me every day, as well as a bunch of pencils and the box-cutter used to sharpen them. So, lack of supplies is not the issue. And I have an hour and 20 minutes of quality drawing time on the bus every work day. Time? No, not an issue. Yet, nothing's done. I will get halfway finished with something, and then it's, "Oh! Now I wanna do this!" and whatever was in progress before that falls by the wayside.

It's not really interesting. Read the post-cut stuff first. )

Anyway, this post not really anything interesting -- it's kind of just a way for me to mark my progress. I have decided to not start anything new until I have finished what I have now. This is supposed to be a way to force me to finish what's already there. What will probably happen is months of doing nothing. Either that, or I will see something cool in a few days and then start on that, effectively proving that, aside with not getting anything done, I have absolutely no willpower. So I scanned (almost) everything in the book. There are some that are so lightly sketched that they did not scan. And there are some things that are, for all intents and purposes, done (enough). I didn't scan any of that stuff. This way I can look back in a few days months and see how much has changed.
You know, now that I think about it, this is probably more appropriate for the other lj. Ehh... too late for that though.

hey, how's it going?
It's only 2:55 and I am already sleepy. But I have only been up like 2 hours. My sister kept coming in here all "Are you up?! Time to get up!"... hounding me about opening presents. (She is 20, not 10) The thing is, cult compound release time had yet to arrive, and I don't open anything unless all parties are present. So, Ma and the sister opened everything while i was back here still trying to wake up (and research turkey-coking information). Which means that half of the presents here are open, and the others are not. But, cult members don't get as many presents as actual people seen on a regular basis, so most of those are not even for here. And everything for me came from the same store (and, as it was a book store, it is pretty obvious what they are), so I am now in no rush for opening things. I may wait until tomorrow.. you know, spread it out!

This is all very weird, because when she woke me up (the second time, I was having a dream about how the Opening of the Presents fell apart due to cult-related activities... so perhaps my subconscious was on to something. Hmm.... Shall  I preemptively declare this the Most Underwhelming Christmas Ever? Perhaps. This stands until I get the food complete and the holiday specials on the television. It will still be Underwhelming, but at least it will then have food and good tv!

and then?, ::shifty eyes::, wait. what?, intrigued, nosy
Oh man, the clock is winding down.. and I still have no ornaments on my tree! Of course the front of the house is still full of boxes, and we don't so much "own a couch" as "not have a couch at all"... so, barring some sort of Christmas miracle involving people magically being not-lazy, the whole living room will remain not in prime Christmastime shape... but it's gonna have to do. The ornaments I can handle, the box/furniture moving? Not so much. My sister is going to her dad's, and I'm not sure how long my brother's day pass from the Compound will last, so there will probably only be two of us here anyway. I envision a day of lots of cooking, then eating and then returning to our respective rooms. Someone said something about going to my aunt's, and my dad invited us to go with him to see his people (in Durham, I think), but my mom made a face at that, and I am not a fan of having to ride somewhere where the people from my house are not in charge of when I get to leave. So who knows how it will all shake out.

hey, how's it going?
Other holiday-related things I have yet to do include: putting ornaments on the tree, getting the boxes out of the living room, finding more lights for the front of the house, buying presents, wrapping presents and mailing the Christmas cards. But, I did pay the cable bill, put the tree up and take the turkey out of the freezer. So really, the important things are done.

finished, arty, words and pictures
So, like I said, here is another one. It seems the "every other day" system fell apart. I think there are ::counts:: four left and ::counts again:: six days. I am not sure how that is gonna work out, but I know it will. It always does.

hey, how's it going?
Wait. There are only seven days until Christmas? What happened to December? I could have sworn that the last day I actually remember looking at the date it was the 12th. What is even sadder is that I own no less than four calendars (the Peanuts one is not even up, the bizarre photography one on the back of the door is on ::looks:: July, the super-hard mathematical sudoku desk calendar is probably under the bed and the last time I remember actually using the Latin-Phrase-A-Day one, it was Hourly Comic Day... meaning it was February 1st. I should own a Get Fuzzy one too -- I get one every year --so that would be five calendars and still no idea of the date. This may be an issue.)

Anyway, I have fallen behind on these again, so the next one should go up sometime after midnight. I won't say who it is, but it does have something in common with this one and the last one. And now, off to Christmas cards. Every year I plan to "get them out early"... every year I fail.

Pay no attention to the unimaginative title.

hey, how's it going?
Only about 50 minutes into the day and I am posting? Wow. This may be because I have something else I may post later, but I am unsure. It all depends on how many other posts show up tonight. I can't be back-to-back on anyone's friends page... that's not cool.

hey, how's it going?
Then again, perhaps it is only fitting that grad school-related work got in the way as I was trying to finish this one and get it posted. Note to grad school students: your friends do not want to read your papers. Especially not if it is due in 5 hours and you are freaked out because you just read the assignment and are worried that you did not exactly follow the directions. It is too late, we are not students and 9 times out of 10, we don't even know what the class is about. (10 times out of 10 we don't care!) Plus, maybe we were working on something!

hey, how's it going?
I am about a week behind on my LJ duties! I keep running into things I need to read and/or comment on! Squerb's recap! Cookie's recap! Tuesday's question meme! I have three personal canons to type up! I am pretty sure if I don't make my way over to the Spillcap, Bean will put a hit out on me! And, my Wikipedia band stuff is sitting half-neglected in one of those Posts Only I Can See! This is not cool!

And I am already two days late on this, and it's only the second one in! Luckily, the next one is about 90% done. But I don't double-post, so there is one in here now, and the other goes up after I wake up.. on its actual Officially designated day. Then, one I have yet to start, one that is half done, one that is just a sketch, two more that are half-done and one that I have not even really settled on a character for. Good times! Oh well, as I told resol, I can't really think of anything to say, so...

hey, how's it going?
So, okay.. remember a few weeks ago, when there was the big Post of Mystery all about Heroes and Holidays and all that? The one with the super secret screened comments and the "What's going on here?!" "Never mind!" and all that? And then the follow-up all about how everyone and their mother said either "2.Mohinder 3. Nathan" or "2.Nathan, 3.Mohinder"? Well, here is the part where it starts to maybe, hopefully make sense.

hey, how's it going?
Random Heroes Fact of The Day: The video store called earlier, which usually means we have gotten a random free rental. That is always good, especially when you are broke and there is something you really, really need want to rent. Of course this is the same store that mocks me by having the Heroes placards up despite never having actually received the DVDs, so it really could be a win/lose situation.

Anyway, now that Big Boom time is fast approaching, (the first story went up today!)  I have to decide just how exactly I want to go about formatting this stuff. I see that there are going to be issues with the sheer number of images in one post. This is officially No Good.

Also, if you keep seeing something moving out of the corner of your eye, and you jump, only to see that it is your hair, that's kind of funny, but you should comb your hair. If this happens many times over the course of a week or so, it's no longer as funny, and you should really comb your hair.
hey, how's it going?
I took a few days off for not-drawing and working on the finish/fail paintings from a few days ago. But now it is getting really, really close to Big Boom deadline time, so I guess it's time to pick the pencils (and crayons) up again and get cracking. I am a lifelong procrastinator, so this is pretty much par for the course. I work very well under the pressure, so I am not sweating it. Plus, I am thinking that the gradual rollout thing will buy me a few more days (weeks?) if anything remains undone.
Of course, going back to look at an old post and see that due to crappy links, the last Big Boom update post had thumbnails, but no big pictures. Good job, me! One was just a black and white sketch (pen and hand) that is now a color drawing, so that's not an issue. The other one (Peter on the floor) I will just add to this post.

Today's Thumbnails
hey, how's it going?
So I took Tuesday off from drawing. No real reason, just taking a break. Then back to work on Wednesday. I worked on a few things, but most are in no shape for scanning, just two things.. one big, one small.

I attempted (again) to get my sister to watch Heroes. I had "Homecoming" on tape from Monday. And since she hates having to watch the ones I have here on the computer, I figured this was the perfect opportunity! Not only is it a pretty action-packed episode, but it features a lot of characters (none of which are named Matt or Parkman)! It's a win-win, right? Wrong.

The last attempt ("Fallout") resulted in "It's alright, but I can't make time to watch it." "Homecoming" resulted in her falling asleep. Literally. Asleep. I had been going along, explaining things to her to fill in the gaps, it was a good system. Then, just when it starts to get good (Sylar TK-ing Jackie, Peter and HRG running in for the rescue) I look back, and this sucker is knocked out! I was like, "Wait? Is she sleeping?!" I woke her up and kicked her out of the room. Then, as any good fan would, I finished watching the episode myself. I don't know what her deal was, it's not like we were watching a boring episode -- there was actually big stuff going down! As she sleepily walked down the hall, I yelled behind here, "You don't know who you are dealing with! You have surely underestimated my tenacity!" Plus, since she fell asleep it does not count as one of her two episodes!

She also she mocked Sendhil's hair. She may need glases. )

hey, how's it going?
So the more I work, the more I worry about what will happen when it is time to post and I can't figure out how to get the images from the big book to the internet. As much as I can try to convince myself that I will head out and find a shop with a big scanner, I know that it really is more work that I'd actually be willing to put in. Plus, I am pretty sure I would have to spend money. And I am nothing, if not unwilling to part with my meager cash.
So I figured out I'd give the scanner and try and see what I could come up with.
