This is like the first time ever I have completed an Illustration Friday drawing on what is, to me, Friday. I mean, I know that technically it is Saturday, but I have not gone to bed yet, so I call it Friday! This week's word is Hats. At first I was gonna go with the classic super-touristy  "I [Heart] NY" hats, but somewhere along the way, those fell by the wayside, and instead I went with...

I thought about all kinds of other people things I could have put in the background, wearing hats that said "I [Heart]" other people/things, but I decided that these three crazy kids needed some time on their own. I also considered making a certain someone's hat say "3RD WHEEL", but decided to go the hater route instead. When in doubt always go with Anger, that's what I always say. And then there was debate over whether to go with "I [Heart] Watches" or "I [Heart] [Picture of a Brain], but I think I like how it all worked out.

Plumbing update: We went to Home Depot to get the piece that should ::fingers crossed:: fix the leak. We have this same issue like once a year. I do not think I am wrong in assuming there may be bigger issues afoot. The best part is that none of the workers at said Big Orange Home Improvement store knew much about plumbing. But, the one dude that helped us had a similar story to mine.. only his involved a friend, and the faucet piece in question actually beaned his friend in the head. Verdict: It hurt. They tried to sell us a faucet knob, though I repeatedly told them that it was an internal, not an external problem. My sister was all "Maybe we should get that!" I was all "It is $35 and NOT what we need!" This went on for way too long.

When we came home, she installed the new internal faucet stuff, then we called the city (at about 11PM) to let them know they can come cut the water back on. It is 4AM and they have yet to arrive. I guess they figure when you need it off, that's an emergency-type issue, but when you need it on... not so much.

Bonus Completely Random Side Story : The best part of it was when, after all of the arguing the dude was like "Are you sisters?" (Yes.) and "Which one is older?" Ha! I win again! I think it had something to do with her being extra crabby (shocking!) and my being extra jokey (also shocking!) Even though she may not look that much older, she sure acts like it. This used to happen to me and my brother all the time.  We'd always get "Are you brother and sister?" then either "Which one is older?" or "Are you twins?" Granted, we do look pretty much just alike, only he is way taller, but we are only four years apart. But my sister is eleven years younger than me, and this is like the second time this has happened to us. (This is right up there with the time a gas station clerk asked my friend "Is that your daughter?" I just stood there in shock. Yeah, she is older than I am.. but only by five months... like, almost to the day. I thought it was hilarious! Needless to say, she did not.)

You get no happy exclamation points in this comment.

No?! But, but... I was waiting to see just what you would give the happy exclamation points to in this one. I can't even get an "Alejandro!"? Or a "Hat Store!"? Not even a "Gabriel!"?! Come on now. That's just harsh!

I considered giving you happy exclamation points for the I heart braaains t-shirt. But I have decided upon a happy exclamation point embargo for any Maylar related art.

See, that would have been perfectly acceptable. Who does not love a good "I Heart Braaains" hat t-shirt? But, an exclamation point embargo? Fail. I am pretty sure it is gonna be all-Maylar around here from here on out. Okay, mostly. I mean I can't neglect Warkman! What kind of message would that send!?

D'oh. Hat, t-shirt...whatever. You understood what I meant.

I will bring back the happy exclamation points for anything associated with Warkman, but Maylar does not deserve it.

That really is some sort of unfair discriminatory practice! Why does it have to be this way?! Embrace the Maylar!

Would it be better if, from here on out, I referred to it as Mylar?

Embrace the Maylar?! Nevah! I generally discriminate against all het (Josh/Donna from the West Wing gets a reprieve). So it is not unfair. Though Maylar is particularly gross and icky.

And don't get my Mylar mixed in with your Maylar! Though...Mo and Maya fighting over Sylar would be pretty entertaining. I feel a bitchslap!fic coming on!

Well...his hat DOES say "I [heart] BRAAAAINS". So clearly the smile on his face is due to happy fantasies of what Maya's braaains will taste like. And clearly he's holding on to her because he's afraid someone will rescue her before he has a chance to not-eat them.

Clearly this is the key to the entire thing! Your powers of... I don't even know what that would be called, but it has something to do with pulling the tiniest glimmer of non-Maylar from what others viewed as a completely Maylar-laden situation, impresses me. I see I will have to work harder next time. You have inspired me to step things up a notch! Bravo!

Oh, my. Don't ever go to the Big Orange Home Improvement store. Half of their employees can't even tell you where the electrical aisle is. I now go to the neighborhood Ace Hardware. They're more expensive, but I can walk in and describe what I want to do, and they'll tell me how to do it and show me everything I need. I've found that in the long run, it's better to pay the extra $5.

This sounds about like experience. Ma hit the "Assistance needed" thing, and the first employee to come over was girl who seemed to be of high school age. As soon as I saw her turn the corner, I was like "Oh no. She will have no idea." When I started in on my story with "Okay, the bathtub is leaking..." she cut me off right there. At one point and older gentleman wandered down the aisle, he too knew nothing of plumbing. It was then that I considered asking a customer. The dude that eventually made his way over (another high schooler) had a pretty good idea of things, except for that whole Buy a new handle!/I don't need a new handle! situation. It is an infinitely better experience than anything from the Big Blue Home Improvement store... but maybe I should look into the smaller guys from here on out.

I LOVE the way "Gabriel" is looking over at Alejandro, all, "Yeah, I'm totally gonna eat your braaains. Right after I eat Maya's. But first I'm just gonna be handsy with her for a while, right in front of you."

The "I heart braaains" hat needs to exist.

That "Gabriel" sure is a mean one, isn't he? I am pretty sure he is doing all of that on purpose! That's just wrong!

I bet I know at least one braaain not-eater who would buy steal one for himself!

Yeah, once a taxi cab driver who we hadn't even spoken to asked if my sister and I were twins. We're about four years apart and don't look all that similar. Then again, it was early morning, so...
